Disney’s Artemis Fowl | Official Trailer

Remember the name. It’s Fowl. #ArtemisFowl.

Disney’s “Artemis Fowl,” based on the beloved book by Eoin Colfer, is a fantastical, spellbinding adventure that follows the journey of 12-year-old genius Artemis Fowl, a descendant of a long line of criminal masterminds, as he seeks to find his father who has mysteriously disappeared. With the help of his loyal protector Butler, Artemis sets out to find him, and in doing so uncovers an ancient, underground civilization—the amazingly advanced world of fairies. Deducing that his father’s disappearance is somehow connected to the secretive, reclusive fairy world, cunning Artemis concocts a dangerous plan—so dangerous that he ultimately finds himself in a perilous war of wits with the all-powerful fairies.

“Artemis Fowl” is directed by Kenneth Branagh and stars Ferdia Shaw, Lara McDonnell, Josh Gad, Tamara Smart, Nonso Anozie, Josh McGuire, Nikesh Patel, Adrian Scarborough and Miranda Raison, with Colin Farrell and Judi Dench. Kenneth Branagh, p.g.a. and Judy Hofflund, p.g.a. are producing with Angus More Gordon and Matthew Jenkins serving as executive producers. Conor McPherson and Hamish McColl wrote the screenplay.

Disney’s “Artemis Fowl” opens in U.S. theaters on May 29, 2020.

  1. Soooo….they turned a book about a boy criminal mastermind and turned it into a generic action flick about saving the world. Cool. Cool, cool, cool, cool. 😒

  2. Disney's so obsessed with Marvel, all they did was make another Marvel movie, just with fairytale creatures. The tone should've been a lot darker, obvious adaptational changes were made that shouldn't have been made. Seriously, all they did was turn Artemis Fowl into a Marvel hero.

  3. Cancel this atrocity! I've been a fan of these novels for years. I was excited to see the devious Artemis in a movie, but this… who is that kid? That's not even close to his personality! Same goes for Butler. Was that fairy supposed to be Holly? No. Noooo. She looks terrifying! Butler being black is random, but fine, it doesn't change anything…oh wait! We just have generic black cool guy that fights and none of Butler's character's personality. Seriously, Disney? You couldn't get anyone right, not even the dad who is a minor character we don't meet in the first book? Don't even get me started on that nonsense plot line. Fire everyone involved with this snot rag you dare call a screenplay or you'll be losing big money. I'm so sick of greedy, culture cringey, clueless, affluent morons releasing bad fanfic. A teenage fangirl could write better than this overpaid "team".

  4. What a generic piece of shit.
    You killed the books.
You should be ashamed of yourselves.

  5. I only have three words. "What the what?!"

  6. I know it's been years since I've read them but this seems inaccurate😦At least they got the names right.

  7. This has made me afraid of what Disney will do to percy Jackson

  8. Either this is the worst-cut trailer ever, or this film is going to be awful.

  9. Wow, way to miss every point of the books guys.

  10. Watching this almost made me cry out of sheer frustration. Goddamn, if 8 year old me could read these books without finding an at-best morally grey protagonist too confusing, why the hell couldn't Disney?? I'm not even going to watch this tbh, I don't want to reward their condescension and stupidity.

  11. They're…. They're just making Spy Kids

  12. Isn't Artemis fowl

    A vilian
Wtf is this save the world nonsense

  13. I'm here from Dominic Noble's review: I've never read these books, but just from his vague description of the plot, I can see why fans are so crushed by this. >_<

  14. You didn't read the book "Artemis Fowl", and if you did, you had no intention of adapting the story contained within it's pages. Fuck you.

  15. I dont think you understand thst Arty is the villain of this story.

  16. AHHHH! This is making me cry and not because it's good. Artemis starts out as a beleaguered hero who only wants to save his father, not the real D-bag criminal mastermind he should be? This seems to mix elements of the 1st and 2nd book (I read this when I was a kid so correct me if i'm wrong) and fudges a lot of his personality. It feels so wrong for him to start out this way. Holly WANTS to help him! What the frick?
Plus, his father is a "Bad Guy" but secretly a "Good Guy" who is protecting the world from The People? WHAT?!
I haven't read these books in over 10 years but I feel like 85% of this is entirely off the mark.
Eion Colfer was seriously okay with this? Artemis is not allowed to just be the "Bad Guy"?

  17. This is a "in name only" movie.
While it sucks that Disney is banking on using the name and some character ideas, the rest is literally just a movie. Wish they would just go with the idea they had here and call it something else, or say that it's a re-imagining.
It has nothing to do with the books, they are using that for the cash grab ability and notoriety.
I wonder if it's at least fun if we ignore the obvious cash grab use of the name though. It looks like a typical adventure romp with a special protagonist. I'm gonna call him Robert instead of Artemis. Roberts adventures to save his dad who is a vigilante saving the world by stealing things. Cool, sounds fun.
Also, since they've been wanting to cut out the middle man theaters for years and will now do so due to covid and will have it on Disney+ , you can watch it yourself with out paying if you don't want to support it. If you like the movie, buy it. I'm a firm believer in voting with my dollar. If this movie is shit, I don't want Disney to see a dime so that they stop making crap movies. But in it having anything to do with the beloved books, it just simply does not. Not gonna judge it on that at all.

  18. Why didn't they just leave it alone?

  19. Looks like a terrible adaptation, absolutely terrible. But looking at it as a Disney movie? Looks okay.

  20. If PJO ends up anything like this I’ll be pissed

  21. Wow, the writer of the books should sue for deformation of his characters.

  22. …..y'all literally changed the whole story. Also you blackwashed Butler (he's Russian). Thanks.

  23. You ruined star wars. Now you come for Novels. Is there anything you won't kill? Is there anything your cruelty, your greed will not destroy? I despise you. And I wish every day for you ending.

  24. I could tell this was dogshit anyway. I just read the comments to confirm my suspicions! 👍

  25. This would be a great movie if it were not based on preexisting characters. It reminds me of how much more enjoyable the Twilight series could have been if the publishers had not insisted on calling the supernatural creatures werewolves and vampires.

  26. So this is a Men in Black fanfic written by a twelve year old who inserted himself as the main character?

  27. Oh no. Poor Artemis Fowl fans.

  28. Wow this looks like shit

  29. Is this supposed to be Disney's version of men in black mixed with Gothem?

  30. I've never read the books and I have no connection to the franchise or fandom so this doesn't come from the viewpoint of betrayal.
But dear god this movie looks awful.

  31. Just when you thought Percy Jackson got the worst movie adaptation ever.

  32. See, I think this would be a pretty good movie… if it wasn't adapting Artemis Fowl. Am I still gonna watch the movie? Yes. Just so I can read the book later and enjoy both equally and as separate entities. Also hey! That's Adam from Good Omens!

  33. RAGING

  34. 2020 just keeps getting worse. But at least now I know what happens when you take a book, wipe your diarrhea spewing ass on the pages, and then try to read it and adapt it into a movie. Just go away, I'm tired.

  35. watching this is straight up traumatizing

  36. What the fuck even is this?
    Get fucked, Disney.
