AFTERBUZZ TV — American Horror Story: Hotel edition, is a weekly “after show” for fans of FX’s American Horror Story: Hotel. In this episode, hosts David Schifilliti, Alana Jordan, and Sarah Huggins discuss episode 7.

The fifth seasons plot centers around the enigmatic Hotel Cortez in Los Angeles, California, that catches the eye of an intrepid homicide detective (Bentley). The Cortez is host to the strange and bizarre, spearheaded by its owner, The Countess (Gaga), who is a bloodsucking fashionista. This season will feature two murderous threats in the form of The Ten Commandments Killer, a serial offender that justifies his actions in accordance with biblical teachings; and The Addiction Demon, who roams the hotel, armed with a drill bit dildo.

The season will be interconnected to the first season, and will feature an appearance by the Murder House and its realtor Marcy (Christine Estabrook). According to creators Brad Falchuk and Ryan Murphy, thematically Hotel will be much darker than previous ones, and will see the reprisal of other characters from past cycles. Inspiration came from old hotel horror films and actual hotels situated in downtown Los Angeles, with a reputation for sinister events. This included The Cecil. The cycle also marks a return to filming in Los Angeles, where the first two seasons were shot.Hotel features one of the most expansive sets in American Horror Story history, with production designer Mark Worthington building two stories on a soundstage, along with a working elevator and stairway. In July 2015, FX launched a marketing campaign for the series, with most trailers and teasers touting Gaga’s involvement.

  1. I love how at sometimes when someone said something it would go quit

  3. I personally think the killer is Holden. Because he reminds me of a ringleader, kind of like the boy at the middle school. This is the reason the dad will not be able to kill him, plus I think the mom will begin helping him. I also believe that the whole Tristan/Valentino thing will play a big role later on ESPECIALLY when it comes to Liz seeing her "love", it's going to be good.

  4. as for now I could care less about the elementary school of blood suckers lol I think its stupid and lame. Unless they come up with something clever I don't care for it

  5. Sorry for the late comment, but I just discovered your after show! 🙂 … So about Finn Wittrock playing both Tristan and Valentino. I think this was a very deliberate casting choice, not just, hey we like Finn, let's have him play two roles. The Countess was so immediately taken by Tristan because he looked so much like Valentino. For her, it was a way to reconnect with her past love and to try and recapture what she lost. She didn't know Valentino and Natasha were sealed up in the hotel, so she never got to say a proper goodbye to them. She probably thought they just abandoned her. It was still an open wound, and Tristan was a way to confront that. Also, I think the reason why she killed Tristan when she found out about him and Liz was because they assumed that Tristan was just another flavor of the week for her, that he would be a passing fling, when nothing could have been further from the truth. She was emotionally invested in him and was angry when Liz said, "you don't love him, at least not like I do." The Countess is such a well-constructed character — we think she is a heartless snake with nothing more underneath, and then the writers totally flip that around. It's so, so good!

  6. Sorry.. Wren not Ren….

  7. Ren didn't start showing up at the murders until after John went to the hotel. So I definently think John is the 10 commandments killer based on their interaction

  8. i feel like these hosts spend too much time complaining about how the show is written and talking about how it should have went when they could be discussing what we've watched.

  9. Why do these female hosts seem so sleepy?? Dude, do the show by yourself, no one would notice! #ABTV

  10. when are they going to talk more about the school!!!!!!

  11. maybe John has a split personality thats why they showed like half his face when he was talking to rem in the room

  12. Worst episode from the whole amazing show of ahs 🙁

  13. i hope john is not the murder seems so predictible  2 go that route

  14. I think that the countess knew Tristan looked the same as Valentino when she first met him and that's why she said "bellissimo" to him and then said something like 'nevermind' when tristan said 'huh'.

  15. TC said Tristan reminded her of someone which is why she chose Tristan.

  16. But how can John be the killer if he was called to the scene from his wife's phone number where the 2 brothers were killed. He was with his daughter when that happened

  17. They had Tristan be Rudolph because he somewhat looked like him. I think that's why The Countess wouldn't let Liz have him because he reminded her so much of Valentino and that's why she was so enamored by Tristan.

  18. Oh, Sarah "Huggable" Huggins, YOU are a REVELATION!!!

  19. im starting to think that John is the killer and maybe that is why he was inviting to the Serial Killers Dinner with March and the other Famous killers like he belonged there

  20. Also a little thing was Miss Evers reaction to March marrying the countess and her attitude towards their monthly dinner, I think its pretty obvious Miss Ever is in love with March. If that will lead to anything I don't know, just something I noticed.

  21. Does the girl in the middle ever have an opinion? she always seems awkward in the reviews. The episode was great good back story I'm glad they explained more!!!

  22. Far fetched, but could Wren be a figment of John's imagination and John's actual daughter is accompanying John in committing the murders?  As in, John created Wren in his own mind as a representation of his daughter?  Did John abuse his daughter in the same way as Wren's Dad?  Since his wife was so absent in their marriage?

  23. And Kathy Bates' line about anal bleaching/waxing?  LMAO!

  24. I just love it when David torments Sarah. 😉

  25. Hope they explain in the next episode where the vampire baby came from

  26. Hi! Question! They never showed Valentino and his wife giving the ancient blood disease to the countess… didn't Mr. March barricade them inside the hotel before that could happen? If they didn't turn her… who did??

  27. I really missed Liz on this episode 🙁
